Here's a list of photographic resources and some photographers whose work inspires me and also makes me jealous.
Pixellated Image
David duChemin is a humanitarian photographer & best-selling author. His book "Within the Frame: The Journey of Photographic Vision" is one of the most thought provoking books on photography I have ever read. His site also features a set of very reasonably priced eBooks that I highly recommend.
The Digital Trekker
Matt Brandon is a travel/cultural photographer living in Malaysia. He shoots primarily for NGOs and nonprofits. On his website, he describes his photographic mission to "photograph images of the unknown, the forgotten and the helpless."

Along with David duChemin and Gavin Gough, he teaches a series of photo lectures called Lumen Dei.
Gavin Gough
Gavin Gough is an independent, freelance travel photographer. He is currently based in Bangkok, Thailand, from where he travels extensively and creates stock photography for Getty and Lonely Planet Images. His work has been featured in National Geographic, Geo, Vanity Fair, Vogue, & Conde Nast. He leads photo tours around the world and co-founded the Bangkok Photo School.
Mitchell Kanashkevich
Kanashkevich is a travel/documentary photographer with a passion for capturing humanity in unique and challenging conditions. His photos are some of the very best I've ever seen and he has two eBooks on his site that I highly recommend, "Seeing the light: Making the most of available light and minimal equipment" and "Understanding post-processing."
Steve McCurry
Steve McCurry is an internationally recognized photographer and has won many of photography's top awards. His photos have put a human face on conflict and war and his National Geographic cover shot of an Afghan refugee girl has become an icon.
Jim Richardson
Jim Richardson has been a photographer for National Geographic Magazine for over 25 years and is a contributing editor of its sister publication, TRAVELER Magazine. His images from around the world are simply breathtaking.
Ami Vitale
Vitale is a contract photographer with National Geographic and Adventure magazine. She's been named Magazine Photographer of the Year by the National Press Photographers Association, and Photo District News recognized her as one of 30 image makers of the future.
Bob Krist
Bob Krist is a freelance photographer who works regularly on assignment for magazines such as National Geographic Traveler, Smithsonian, and Islands.
Tom Bourdon
Tom Bourdon is a documentary travel photographer from the UK. I first became aware of his work when I saw his Global Faces gallery, images from around the world that are both colorful and intimate. He runs individually tailored photography workshops.
